The Friends of the Bellaire Library was established in 1951 by the Bellaire Women's Civic Club as a not-for-profit organization, devoted to the establishment, support, and enhancement of the Bellaire City Library.

The Friends rely on volunteers for help with two or more outside book sales each year.  We also sponsor an ongoing used-book sale at the Friends Corner inside the Library. The Friends support Bellaire Library projects that encourage reading and life long learning, and to increase the use of the Bellaire Library through public awareness.  Numerous programs and purchases for the Bellaire Library have been made possible by the contributions of the Friends, including:

FIRST SOUTHERN LIVING SHOWCASE HOME IN HOUSTON

--Showcase home tours to benefit local literacy programs-- 

                    

SOUTHERN LIVING SHOWCASE HOME BREAKS GROUND IN BELLAIRE… Stone Acorn Builders LP, a member of the prestigious Southern Living Custom Builder Program, will bring the first Southern Living Showcase Home to Houston in May 2012.   The premier showcase home will be located at 5307 Aspen in Bellaire, Texas.   The 3,971-square-foot floor plan includes four to five bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, library and craft room, study, scullery, gardening stand, and outdoor living space. Proceeds from the showcase home tours benefit the Houston READ Commission and Friends of the Bellaire Library.

How to get involved The best way to get involved is to become a member of the Friends! You can become a member for just $10.00 a year (or just $5.00 for Seniors).  Additional levels of membership are available as Family, Patron, or Lifetime membership. For membership information, print out a membership form or pick one up at the Library circulation desk, fill it out, and mail it along with your payment to the address on the form.  You may also drop off the membership application and dues payment at the Bellaire Library. As a Friend, you receive these benefits:

  • Invitations to special Library and Friends programs
  • Notice of upcoming book sales
  • A forum in which to advocate on behalf of the Library

 

 

As a Friend, you build a strong Library that

  • Helps children develop a love of reading
  • Provides individuals, organizations and businesses free access to vital information resources, and
  • Educates and broadens the horizons of all patrons.

Because we are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, your contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of IRS regulations.

Please drop off donations of books, DVDs, CDs, and videos at the Library.
